Guide · Pay in parts
How to pay part of a debt to the Finanças
Some bills accept a partial payment. On the Portal, open the bill's detail (VER DETALHE), follow the link to the partial-payment request, enter the amount and press CONFIRMAR: a payment reference is generated for that amount. The rest stays owed.

Step by step
- Sign in and open the list of payments due, at
sitfiscal.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/inffin/pagamentosDecorrer.html. - On the bill's line, press VER DETALHE (see detail).
- On the bill's detail page, follow the link to the partial-payment request.
- The list that opens holds the bills that accept a partial payment. On yours, press EFETUAR PEDIDO (make request).
- Enter the amount you want to pay now. It has to be less than the bill's total.
- Press CONFIRMAR. This generates a real payment reference for that amount.
- Pay with the reference, at a Multibanco ATM, in online banking or by MB WAY.
Before you ask
- Only the bills on the partial-payment list accept it. If yours is not there, the Portal does not offer this route for it.
- Fines (coimas) cannot be paid in parts.
- Whatever is left stays owed and, after the deadline, accrues late-payment interest.
- If you need more time to pay all of it, compare with a payment plan.
With tudo certo.
tudo certo. shows, for each bill, whether the Portal accepts a partial payment, takes the tab to the form and fills in the amount. The click on CONFIRMAR is always yours.
Frequently asked questions
